Robotics adoption in construction has lagged behind other industries, mainly due to fragmented automation and limited workflow integration. Buildroid, a San Francisco-based company, targets this gap with a platform designed to coordinate multiple robots and streamline construction tasks. As the demand for faster building and skilled labor rises, Buildroid’s solution seeks to balance efficiency with the expertise of human operators. The company’s recent U.S. launch arrives after pilot projects abroad, aiming to support contractors and address challenges facing the sector.

Other companies, such as Construction Robotics and FBR, have previously introduced single-purpose bricklaying robots that focus on automating isolated functions and require significant manual oversight. Initiatives commonly concentrated on one type of robot, often overlooking the broader workflow and interoperability across platforms. Buildroid differentiates itself by taking a holistic approach—its platform supports over 40 robot types and emphasizes coordination rather than single-task automation. The new focus on digital twins and simulation-first planning echoes a broader industry movement toward integrated, data-driven construction management.

How Does Buildroid’s Platform Work Across Multiple Robots?

Buildroid’s platform leverages NVIDIA Omniverse-based modeling for workflow evaluation and planning, using digital twins to optimize construction sequences before deployment. The system is compatible with a wide range of robots, allowing for interoperability via APIs and edge computers that guide machines in real time. According to co-founder and CEO Slava Solonitsyn, the company’s approach aims to deliver both predictability and scalability in real construction scenarios.

“America’s construction industry faces many of the same pressures seen worldwide—labor shortages, rising costs, and increasing demand for speed and precision,”

Solonitsyn explained, highlighting the platform’s role in today’s economic climate.

What Types of Robots Are Being Integrated?

Currently, the Buildroid platform automates blockwork using its BLR (block-laying robot) and is expanding to include a compact block-laying robot (BLRc) as well as an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) for material delivery. Integration with plastering robots is also underway, broadening the platform’s applicability beyond masonry. For each type, Buildroid collaborates with robot manufacturers to ensure effective data exchange and workflow control. Co-founder and CTO Anton Glance discussed their process in detail:

“In our early deployments, our engineers will be on-site to supervise the robots, prevent issues, and handle any urgent situations,”

emphasizing the balance between automation and human oversight during initial rollouts.

What Is the Approach to Deployment and Scaling?

Buildroid’s robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) model lets contractors access its technology based on performance-related savings, rather than traditional purchasing. The company pledges to share efficiency gains with clients while meeting set performance criteria. In the first quarter of 2026, Buildroid is scheduled to commence commercial projects with major general contractors, initially focusing on tasks like blockwork and partition-wall installation. Plans are in place to expand its BIM-to-BUILD platform and assemble local U.S. teams as the platform moves toward broader rollout.

Buildroid’s push toward simulation-first workflows and coordinated multi-robot deployments signals a shift from previous, more siloed approaches in construction robotics. By enabling real-time replanning and flexible task allocation through digital twins, the company aims to reduce downtime and foster more adaptive project management. The RaaS model and shared-savings arrangement could also lower barriers for contractors to pilot and adopt advanced automation.
