During the Chinese New Year holiday, Tesla drivers in China collectively surpassed significant travel milestones, showcasing the widespread adoption and performance of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country. Between February 10 and 17, Tesla owners covered over 700 million kilometers, highlighting the vehicles’ suitability for long-distance travel and the success of the electric automaker’s Supercharger network in supporting EV drivers.
Impressive Environmental Impact
This substantial distance is the equivalent to circling the Earth over 18,000 times and equates to multiple round trips from Earth to Mars. The extensive travel by Tesla’s fleet also contributed to a notable decrease in carbon emissions. Tesla estimated that the distance covered by its drivers helped in preventing around 160,000 tons of CO2 emissions, an environmental benefit comparable to the impact of planting nearly 9.4 million trees.
Robust Charging Network
The high travel figures during the holiday season underscore Tesla’s commitment to providing a reliable charging infrastructure. With over 1,900 Supercharger stations and more than 11,000 individual chargers, the network in mainland China ensures EV owners have the necessary support for long trips. Additionally, Tesla’s 700-plus destination charging stations with 2,000 charging piles further enhance this convenience.
A deeper analysis of the travel data shows that many Tesla drivers maintained daily travel averages exceeding 500 kilometers, highlighting the brand’s long-range capability and dependable Supercharger Network. These findings not only affirm the practicality of Tesla’s EVs for extensive travel but also solidify the Supercharger infrastructure as a strong pillar of Tesla’s customer service offerings.
To capitalize on this momentum and encourage further EV use, Tesla China has launched a promotional campaign valid until March 31. The offer gives Tesla owners the opportunity to win a year of free Supercharging, covering up to 10,000 kilometers of travel.
Tesla China has made both the original and an English-translated version of their New Year travel report publicly accessible, allowing for a broader audience to review the impressive achievements of the EV community during the festive season.
Tesla owners in China have proven the feasibility and appeal of electric vehicles for holiday travel, with significant mileage recorded and a meaningful reduction in emissions. The robust charging infrastructure and ongoing promotional activities are poised to further boost the appeal and convenience of EVs in the region.
