Saudi Arabia, traditionally reliant on its robust property market, is experiencing a data-driven transformation. Pioneered by Ahmed Bukhamseen, Quant aims to democratize real estate investment by providing comprehensive pricing information and analytical tools. This initiative not only empowers individual buyers but also attracts diversified investors, fostering a more transparent and competitive market environment.
Over time, Quant has expanded its data sources and technological capabilities to enhance its service offerings. Initially leveraging municipal data, the company now integrates high-resolution satellite imagery and geospatial information. This evolution aligns with the growing demand for accurate and timely real estate data in the region.
What Drives Quant’s Data Strategy?
“Our main challenge was to first comply with data protection. So, Saudi implemented new regulation laws about data protection, similar to GDPR, run by the Saudi Data and AI Authority. And for that we needed to have a local host for data protection. So that was our main driver for moving from Azure – Microsoft here in Europe – back to Saudi.”
Compliance with local data protection laws necessitated a shift in Quant’s data hosting strategy, prompting the move to local servers to ensure data security and regulatory adherence.
How Does Huawei Support Quant’s Operations?
“With our new development, computing the model [ourselves] would take us six months to deploy. Now when we run it, it takes four hours. And last time I checked with the team, we run it every week.”
Huawei’s cloud services have significantly accelerated Quant’s model deployment, enabling more frequent updates and enhancing the overall efficiency of data processing and analysis.
What Are Quant’s Future Plans for the Market?
Quant intends to further enrich its data offerings by incorporating feature and object detection technologies. This advancement will allow for more precise identification of building plans and zoning changes, providing users with deeper insights into property developments and market trends.
Earlier reports highlighted Quant’s initial focus on municipal data integration. The current strategy demonstrates a clear progression towards more sophisticated data analytics and real-time information delivery, positioning Quant as a key player in the Saudi real estate landscape.
As the Saudi property market continues to grow rapidly, Quant and Huawei are poised to meet the increasing demands for detailed and accessible real estate data. This collaboration not only enhances investment decision-making but also contributes to the overall modernization of the country’s property sector.
