Honda and Acura are expanding their electric vehicle charging options by integrating with Tesla‘s extensive Supercharger network. This collaboration aims to enhance the convenience and accessibility of fast-charging solutions for EV owners across the United States. By leveraging Tesla’s established infrastructure, Honda and Acura seek to provide a more seamless charging experience for their customers.

Earlier initiatives focused on partnerships with smaller charging networks, but this move signifies a broader strategy to improve charging accessibility. The introduction of approved NACS-CCS adapters will enable Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX owners to utilize Tesla’s Superchargers, addressing previous limitations in charging infrastructure.

How Will the Adapters Ensure Safe Charging?

Starting June 2025, drivers of the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX can obtain a Honda-approved NACS-CCS DC fast-charging adapter from authorized U.S. dealerships. This adapter has been rigorously tested for safety and compatibility, making it the sole recommended option for accessing Tesla Superchargers.

“Adding Tesla Supercharger network access to the charging networks already available to our EV customers means industry-leading fast-charging access for Honda and Acura EV drivers,”

said Ryan Harty, assistant vice president of Sustainability & Business Development at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

What Benefits Do Owners Gain from This Partnership?

With access to over 20,000 Tesla Superchargers nationwide, Honda and Acura EV owners will experience enhanced charging convenience and reduced waiting times. This extensive network allows for faster and more reliable charging sessions, thereby increasing the practicality of owning an electric vehicle from these brands.

What Are Honda’s Future Charging Plans?

By 2030, Honda aims to provide its EV drivers with access to approximately 100,000 DC fast-charge points across North America. This will include not only Tesla Superchargers but also networks like IONNA, EVgo, and Electrify America.

“By the end of this decade, we strive to provide Honda and Acura EV drivers with the most convenient and easy charging at more than 100,000 charge points nationwide, helping people choose to purchase an EV for the many benefits of driving one,”

Harty added.

This initiative represents a significant expansion compared to previous efforts, which primarily relied on smaller and less widespread charging networks. By partnering with Tesla, Honda and Acura are aligning themselves with a proven and expansive infrastructure, ensuring their EV customers have access to reliable and rapid charging solutions.

Honda and Acura’s integration with Tesla’s Supercharger network demonstrates a commitment to improving the EV ownership experience. By prioritizing safety and compatibility through approved adapters, the companies are addressing key consumer concerns and paving the way for broader adoption of electric vehicles.
