Semtech Corporation has expanded its AirLink router lineup by incorporating support for Anterix Inc.’s 900 MHz private spectrum. This move aims to enhance connectivity solutions for mission-critical energy and utility networks across the United States, including territories like Alaska and Puerto Rico. The integration is expected to boost grid stability and operational efficiency for utility companies.
This development marks a significant step from Semtech’s previous efforts, which primarily focused on commercial networks without specialized support for private LTE bands. By now incorporating Anterix’s spectrum, Semtech aligns more closely with the unique requirements of utility infrastructures, offering more tailored connectivity solutions than before.
Enhanced Connectivity for Utility Networks
The AirLink XR60 5G router now supports Anterix’s 900 MHz private LTE spectrum, providing robust and reliable connectivity essential for energy and utility operations. This support ensures that utilities can maintain seamless communication across their infrastructure, even in demanding environments.
Integration of Band 106 Private LTE
By standardizing the integration of Band 106 into the XR60 router, Semtech enables the use of private LTE networks tailored for mission-critical applications. This allows utility companies to enhance control, visibility, and quality of service on their networks.
Comprehensive Service Package
The XR60 comes with a five-year service package that includes technical support, hardware warranty, and remote management through the AirLink Management Service (ALMS). These features allow utilities to efficiently manage and scale their router deployments while ensuring security and optimization.
“The integration of Anterix support into our AirLink XR60 5G router is transformative for utility operators,” said Kinana Hussain, vice president of networking solutions at Semtech. “This advancement not only enables seamless adoption of private networks but also empowers utilities to future-proof their infrastructure while enhancing the resiliency, efficiency and security critical to their operations.”
“Anterix is thrilled to build on our collaboration with Semtech, a member of the 125+ solutions providers within the Anterix Active Ecosystem. Semtech’s efforts help to expand the reach of our 900MHz private broadband spectrum technology for utilities,” said Steve Ryan, vice president, ecosystem and partnerships at Anterix.
“With this collaboration, utilities gain access to game-changing solutions purpose-built for secure and resilient operations in today’s dynamic energy landscape.”
The integration of Anterix’s private LTE spectrum into Semtech’s AirLink XR60 router offers utility companies a reliable and scalable solution for their critical communication needs. By leveraging the 900 MHz band, utilities can achieve improved network performance and resilience, supporting ongoing infrastructure modernization efforts. This collaboration highlights the growing trend of specialized connectivity solutions tailored to the unique demands of the energy sector.
