NetEase is set to address significant memory consumption issues in its PC game, Marvel Rivals. Players have reported high RAM usage affecting game performance, leading the developers to seek solutions that enhance accessibility across various PC configurations. This initiative reflects NetEase’s responsiveness to community feedback and its commitment to improving the gaming experience.
Previous updates for Marvel Rivals primarily introduced new content and gameplay features. The focus on optimizing memory usage marks a shift towards resolving technical performance issues that have been a concern for players following recent patches.
What Steps is NetEase Taking to Reduce Memory Consumption?
“On PC, we realize that [optimization] is a big problem, especially for the memory consumption,” Marvel Rivals director Guangyun Chen stated. “So it may be that in Season 2, we will have an experimental check box in our launcher players can use to reduce memory [consumption] significantly.”
This feature aims to allow players to manage and lower the game’s RAM usage, potentially improving performance on systems with limited memory.
When Will the Memory Optimization Feature Be Available?
The memory optimization fix is anticipated for Season 2, expected to launch in mid-April. NetEase has emphasized the need for thorough testing to ensure the feature effectively addresses the issue without introducing new problems.
What Challenges Does NetEase Face with Unreal Engine 5?
“It’s a very big problem, but it’s a lot of work to organize [a fix]. We cannot just release it in a small patch, we have to fully test it. But we realize the problem and we’re going to keep optimizing,” Chen added. Utilizing Unreal Engine 5 presents complexities that make performance optimization an ongoing effort for the development team.
Enhancing memory management is essential for making Marvel Rivals accessible to a wider audience, especially those with mid-range PCs. By introducing memory reduction options, NetEase seeks to balance graphical fidelity with system performance, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience for all users.
