Mobile operators face increasing competition and operational complexity as mobile users expect seamless connectivity wherever they go. The introduction of eSIM technology promises to remove hassles associated with physical SIM cards and bring speed and flexibility, especially relevant for travelers and emerging IoT applications. With its new eSIM platform, Hayo aims to facilitate a smooth transition for operators seeking to move away from traditional SIM infrastructure. This development could reframe roaming revenue strategies at a time when global connectivity needs are rapidly expanding. The interplay between shifting consumer needs and technology adoption highlights opportunities across consumer, enterprise, and IoT markets.

When eSIM technology started gaining attention years ago, mobile operators expressed concerns about losing direct relationships with customers and facing greater reliance on third-party aggregators. Initial solutions often centered around global travelers and brought up interoperability or security worries. Recent data shows that projected eSIM adoption has increased markedly, particularly as device manufacturers begin to support built-in eSIM functionality. While previous solutions sometimes required complex adjustments for compliance or onboarding, current platforms such as Hayo’s claim to streamline these steps, offering improved regulatory alignment and faster market entry for operators.

What Features Does the Hayo eSIM Platform Offer?

Hayo is introducing an end-to-end white-label eSIM solution, designed to help mobile network operators (MNOs) shift their operations toward digital-first customer experiences. The platform includes profile generation, SM-DP+ hosting, remote provisioning, and both web and app-based customer onboarding tools. With this suite, MNOs can manage branded eSIM offerings, simplify service delivery, cut onboarding delays, and stay compliant with digital identity requirements.

How Does the Platform Address Revenue and Control Concerns?

By adopting Hayo’s white-label solution, MNOs retain direct relationships with their customers while gaining flexibility and savings compared to creating their own systems. Roaming revenues can be more easily controlled since operators can leverage the Aggregator CMP platform to manage partners, prioritize their own networks, and oversee revenue flows. The system also aims to reduce operational costs tied to SIM logistics and fraud exposure, two areas where eSIMs have presented measurable benefits.

What Security and Compliance Measures Are in Place?

Compliance and security are central to the offering, with Hayo’s eSIM platform incorporating TLS 1.2+ encrypted communications and strict adherence to GSMA specifications (such as SGP.01, SGP.02, and SGP.28 among others). Secure, single-use QR codes, mandatory KYC/eKYC validation, and detailed audit logs for every profile transaction further reinforce data integrity. These elements aim to enable operators to roll out eSIM services globally without violating regulatory standards.

“eSIMs are changing the game not only for travellers, but also in sectors such as IoT where speed, scale and flexibility are key,”

stated Feraz Ahmed, CEO at Hayo. In addition, Boaz Yaya, Director of Operator Relations at Hayo, communicated:

“By combining over 30 years of telecom expertise with a network of 500+ trusted partners, Hayo is helping MNOs to enter the eSIM market with confidence and expand across Africa, the Middle East and across the globe.”

Hayo’s solution comes at a time when GSMA Intelligence forecasts that up to 88% of global smartphone connections may use eSIMs by 2030, underlining a trend towards digital-first connectivity. As operators weigh switching to eSIMs, the ease of migration—spanning profile management, roaming agreements, and analytics—could prove decisive. Designed for rapid deployment and full brand control, this platform reflects how the telecom industry is adjusting to consumer, regulatory, and market pressures.

Businesses considering eSIM adoption should look at both technical requirements and organizational readiness, as moving away from physical SIMs affects customer onboarding, customer support, and backend logistics. While platforms like Hayo’s can alleviate deployment complexity, genuine impact depends on whether operators can leverage new flexibility to craft innovative offerings and improve service reach, particularly for high-growth IoT and travel use cases. Keeping an eye on market adoption rates, evolving security standards, and interoperability with device manufacturers will help operators maximize the value from eSIM platforms in the competitive telecom landscape.

  • The system supports secure, global-ready features and GSMA regulatory compliance.
  • Future eSIM adoption rates may significantly alter operator strategies and market competition.
