Electric vehicle drivers in the UK have weighed in on the quality of public charging networks, and Tesla has emerged as the preferred choice yet again. The results of Zapmap’s 2025 annual survey place the Tesla Supercharger network at the forefront among large public charging providers, reflecting strong approval from a broad spectrum of EV owners. Drivers point to efficient payment systems and consistent network reliability as decisive factors. Expectations within the EV community are rising as public charging options expand, and the survey’s findings serve as a snapshot of current user priorities.

In past Zapmap satisfaction polls, Tesla saw positive rankings, but its reach was more limited by the number of publicly available Superchargers. By 2023, for example, Tesla’s presence in open-access charging was narrower, and drivers often cited access restrictions for non-Tesla vehicles. This latest survey, however, shows a pronounced expansion and growing acceptance, especially as a much larger share of Superchargers are now available to all EV owners. The 40% growth in public charging locations since late 2024 demonstrates the brand’s response to user feedback for increased accessibility and affordability across the market.

What Drives Tesla’s Supercharger Popularity Among Drivers?

Survey responses indicate that Tesla’s Supercharger installations stand out for their operational stability and transparent cost structures. About 1,115 Supercharger devices at 97 locations are now open to public use, making up over half of Tesla’s total network in the UK. The significant increase in access is matched by competitive pricing, which is often less than that of other rapid charging networks. One survey participant described appreciating the “significantly lower prices than most rapid or ultra-rapid networks.”

How Does Tesla Respond to Its Top Ranking?

Tesla’s management has acknowledged the survey recognition and outlined future priorities centered on customer feedback. Ollie Dodd, Senior Regional Manager for Northern Europe Charging at Tesla, remarked,

“We’re thrilled to win Zapmap’s Best EV Charging Network for the second year in a row. Being recognized by the drivers themselves shows that our customer-centric and data-driven approach to building sites is well-received.”

Dodd additionally highlighted that Tesla will keep rolling out new features focusing on convenience and network expansion.

“We look forward to showcasing more customer-centric features in 2026 as we expand the network further and look towards new initiatives in roaming and payment methods.”

What Matters Most to UK EV Drivers?

Reliability and flexibility in payment remain key issues for electric vehicle owners, according to feedback compiled from nearly 4,000 respondents between September and October 2025. Open charging networks that provide dependable service with minimal interruptions consistently earn higher marks. The Tesla Supercharger’s focus on fast, reliable operation and streamlined payment options strongly influenced user satisfaction this year, especially as network outages and payment friction point have hindered competitors.

The Zapmap rankings underline how swiftly the EV charging landscape is adapting to growing consumer demand for speed, transparency, and accessibility. As more Supercharger stations welcome all electric vehicles, the user experience may become more consistent industry-wide. For EV drivers seeking cost-effective and reliable public charging, monitoring how networks address concerns such as roaming compatibility and flexible payment solutions is worthwhile. Staying informed about the availability and terms of each network, including Tesla’s pricing and public access policies, can help drivers make informed choices about their charging routines.
