How Does PowerBridge Pro Expand Wireless Power in Europe? What Was Required for Certification? What is Energous’ Vision for Ambient IoT?

Major industries across Europe are set to reevaluate how they power widespread connected devices after Energous Corporation received regulatory clearance for its PowerBridge Pro Directional wireless transmitter. This clearance paves the way for continuous, maintenance-free power delivery to vast networks of sensors and connected objects—potentially reducing costs, waste, and inefficiency associated with battery replacements. The move comes as Ambient IoT strategies demand persistent energy sources to support real-time monitoring and automated operations in sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, and refrigerated transport.

Energous previously announced similar achievements in the U.S. market, but adoption has sometimes been slowed by region-specific regulations and uncertainties about RF power use. Unlike earlier filings that targeted lower-output solutions or limited bands, PowerBridge Pro now offers the company’s highest conducted power—with approvals spanning both the lower (865 MHz) and upper (918 MHz) frequency bands in all EU member states. Over time, enterprises have sought to consolidate solutions that comply across borders, highlighting the importance of dual-band licensing for efficient, multi-country deployments.

How Does PowerBridge Pro Expand Wireless Power in Europe?

The regulatory approval covers both the PowerBridge Lite and Pro models, and grants Energous a path to offer wireless power transmission infrastructure across Europe and the UK. By enabling 2W conducted power with 39.5 dBi EIRP, the PowerBridge Pro expands the practical reach of wireless charging within large industrial spaces. Enterprises seeking to deploy thousands of sensors and trackers in environments like warehouses or cold-storage facilities may see streamlined, scalable deployment.

What Was Required for Certification?

Obtaining the CE mark involved detailed safety reviews, conducted and radiated emission testing, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) assessments, and radiated immunity inspections. These processes aimed to ensure that the PowerBridge Pro operates within EU safety and performance regulations, while also minimizing the risk of interference with nearby wireless systems. Energous notes the rigorous process supports confidence in both the performance and regulatory compliance of the device.

What is Energous’ Vision for Ambient IoT?

With U.S. and EU authorizations secured, Energous plans to deliver over-the-air power as a fundamental layer of connected infrastructure. Real-time intelligence across supply chains and industrial processes becomes viable, thanks to an energy network that operates independently from wires and disposable batteries. CEO and CFO Mallorie Burak commented,

“Our technology gives enterprises a sustainable, maintenance-free alternative to batteries, while supporting smarter, more connected operations on a global scale.”

The company’s leadership has named this clearance a strategic milestone, stating,

“EU certification of our PowerBridge Pro marks a major milestone in Energous’ roadmap for global expansion.”

Energous’ approach stands in contrast to some earlier industry focus on short-range or device-specific wireless charging, moving toward unified, networked power delivery for Ambient IoT. This approval distinguishes PowerBridge Pro among a growing field of wireless power solutions, as global regulatory acceptance remains a hurdle for many. For enterprises considering broad IoT deployments, such certifications not only simplify purchasing decisions but may accelerate time-to-market for new connected applications. Key challenges now revolve around integrating this power layer with existing IT and operational systems, ensuring interoperability, and measuring real-world efficiency versus legacy battery models.
