The Cybercab’s intended induction charging solution, as previously discussed by Tesla leadership, is not yet integrated into prototype units. Production is targeted for April, with the interim reliance on conventional Supercharging considered necessary. Tesla has acknowledged the technical challenges surrounding wireless induction charging, including efficiency losses due to heat transfer. Manual charging options allow flexibility, especially during cleaning or maintenance periods between shifts, where vehicles might spend up to 45 minutes docked and plugged in. This combination may offer a balanced solution until wireless systems are proven robust enough for exclusive use.
