The Honor Magic V2, heralded as the slimmest inward-folding smartphone globally, has been released for consumers in the UK and Europe. This innovative device showcases a remarkable thin profile, being just 9.9mm thick when closed and 4.7mm upon unfolding. In contrast, its competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, has a thickness of 6.1mm when unfolded.
Availability and Pricing
Despite its availability in the UK and other European regions, the Honor Magic V2 will not hit the US market. In the UK, the device can be pre-ordered for £1,699.99, positioning it just slightly below the price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 in Europe.
Technical Specifications and Features
After its initial debut in China last year, the Magic V2 is now making waves overseas. It boasts a 7.92-inch foldable OLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and reaches a peak brightness level of 1,600 nits. The screen resolution is a crisp 2156 x 2344 pixels.
The Honor Magic V2’s outer display, a 6.43-inch OLED screen, also offers a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1060 x 2376 pixels. Honor emphasizes the durability of this external screen, citing its construction from a drop-resistant nanocrystal glass.
Camera capabilities include a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 20MP telephoto lens. Each display houses a 16MP punch-hole front camera, though the device lacks under-display camera technology.
Internally, the Magic V2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, mirroring the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5’s processor. Its energy needs are met by a robust 5,000mAh dual silicon-carbon battery, supporting 66W fast charging with the included SuperCharge cable from Honor.
