A neurotech start-up in the United States has unveiled Morpheus-1, an artificial intelligence (AI) system purposed to initiate lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming occurs when an individual is conscious during a dream and can manipulate its narrative. Prophetic AI, the company behind this innovation, claims their technology is on the brink of making such experiences commonplace.
Revolutionizing Dream Control
Even though some seasoned lucid dreamers can voluntarily enter this state, there has been no scientific method to consistently provoke lucid dreaming at will. Morpheus-1 is set to change that, being the pioneering AI system that uses ultrasonic waves to stimulate specific brain regions to induce and maintain lucid dreams.
The firm has been developing the Halo, a non-intrusive wearable device, to apply this technology. The Halo, a headband, is designed to detect REM sleep phases to trigger and stabilize lucid dreams with the Morpheus-1 system.
Introducing On-Demand Conscious Dream Engineering
Intended for beta release in Spring 2024, Morpheus-1 will accept user-defined brain states as inputs and generate customized ultrasonic signals to induce these states, effectively allowing pre-selection of dream themes. Prophetic AI aims to pioneer “digital psi-ence” by refining ultrasonic neuromodulation, enabling safe exploration of dreamscapes beyond our waking reach.
While this technology may seem fantastical, it has the potential to radically extend the boundaries of human consciousness. However, a fully functional prototype is still in development, with the Halo device’s shipping projected to begin in early 2025.
