Ford has made a strategic price reduction on its 2023 Mustang Mach-E lineup, significantly lowering the cost of several models, including the base Select Rear-Wheel-Drive trim. This move positions the Mustang Mach-E as a more competitive player in the electric SUV market, with the second-ranked U.S. electric SUV now starting below the $40,000 mark.
Significant Savings Across Trims
Customers can now benefit from savings as large as $8,100 off the original manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), with the higher-end trims enjoying the bigger cuts. The adjustments see the Select Rear-Wheel-Drive trim drop by $3,100, while both the Premium Rear-Wheel-Drive Extended Range and the California Route 1 All-Wheel-Drive trims see the maximum reduction of $8,100. Even the performance-focused GT models have seen a considerable $7,600 price decrease.
Clearing Inventory for New Arrivals
Previously, Ford offered a series of discounts on the Mustang Mach-E, from attractive lease options to reductions through the Red Carpet program. These price adjustments are likely an effort to clear the remaining stock of the 2023 models, as Ford turns its attention to the upcoming 2024 Mustang Mach-E. Additionally, Ford disclosed substantial discounts on the F-150 Lightning, which now includes both Point of Sale EV credit and retail incentives, totaling savings of up to $15,000.
Amidst an industry-wide push towards electrification, Ford has been proactive, creating a dedicated division for its electric vehicles and separating it from its traditional internal combustion engine business. However, it faces challenges in achieving profitability with its EV segment and has announced production cuts to better align with current market demand.
This strategy aligns with Ford’s broader commitment to an electrified future, as the automotive giant seeks to strike a balance between innovation and profitability in a rapidly changing market landscape.
Ford’s price restructuring for the Mustang Mach-E represents a bold step towards making electric vehicles more accessible, which may stimulate sales and solidify Ford’s presence in the EV space.
