Google has launched the latest iterations of its smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. These devices, which can be pre-ordered now, are priced at $699 and $999. They boast a more compact design compared to their predecessors, feature enhanced displays for better visibility, and come equipped with more advanced cameras.
Introducing Fresh Features and Colors
The new phones offer a fresh mint green color option, adding to the existing palette that includes Porcelain, Bay, Rose, Hazel, and Obsidian. This aesthetic update accompanies a suite of software enhancements.
Enhanced Search and Messaging Capabilities
Google has improved the ‘Search on the web’ function with the Circle to Search feature, which debuted on the Galaxy S24 series. Users can now easily perform a Google Search by circling any content on their screen. The feature is accessed through a long press on the home button or navigation bar.
AI-Powered Composing and Photomojis
The Pixel 8’s Magic Compose feature, powered by Google’s AI, allows users to creatively alter drafted messages into various styles, including professional, concise, or Shakespearean. The Photomoji feature, similar to Apple’s Memoji, enables customization of photos into stickers or emoji reactions within Google Messages, and will be available on Pixel models from the 3a onwards.
Innovative Health Monitoring Tool
The Pixel 8 Pro introduces a novel temperature sensor, allowing users to measure body temperature through the Thermometer app. Results from this health-monitoring tool can be integrated with the Fitbit app and other health tracking platforms.
