Ironwood Studios has introduced a fresh take on the rogue-lite genre with its upcoming game, ‘Pacific Drive’. This innovative title blends elements of driving, exploration, and survival-crafting, marking a departure from traditional rogue-lite games. A recent gameplay video featuring Creative Director Alexander Dracott and Director Seth Rosen provides insight into the game’s mechanics and what players can expect during a typical game session.
Embarking on a Perilous Journey
Each game starts in the safety of a garage, known as the Zone’s sanctuary, from which players must carefully plan their journey. The car is central to survival and requires constant upkeep, with players tasked to repair or replace parts as needed. While exploring the treacherous Olympic Exclusion Zone, players have access to tools like the Impact Hammer for collecting Plasma and the Scrapper for obtaining spare materials.
Surviving Against the Odds
Adventurers must be vigilant for Anomalies, mysterious occurrences that can have various detrimental effects on their vehicle and journey. Successfully completing a run in the Zone allows players to gather Stable Energy, which can be used to unlock new crafting recipes at the Fabrication Station, enhancing their survival capabilities for future runs.
‘Pacific Drive’ is set to release on February 22nd, 2024, and will be available for PS5 and PC platforms. For more detailed impressions of the game, interested readers can find additional information through provided links.
