Mecha Break, the mech-based competitive game from Chinese developer Amazing Seasun, has closed its open beta on Steam, marking a significant milestone with over 300,000 players participating. The intense player engagement provided valuable insights, prompting the studio to evaluate certain aspects of the game before its official launch. These proposed adjustments aim to enhance the gaming experience and address the community’s feedback comprehensively.

Feedback from earlier testing phases echoed the sentiments observed during the most recent open beta. Players consistently highlighted issues with asset availability and customization options, reinforcing Amazing Seasun’s decision to reassess their approach. This ongoing dialogue between developers and the player base underscores the company’s commitment to refining Mecha Break prior to its full release.

Should All Break Strikers Be Available at Launch?

“We do know the biggest concern and then we think that the players are right,” Kwok said through an interpreter in a recent interview with PC Gamer. “We are considering that we may [give] access to all Strikers to players.”

Currently, only one Break Striker is accessible to new players, with additional mechs unlocked through gameplay. The high demand for immediate access suggests that altering this system could improve player satisfaction and reduce initial grind time.

How Will Mech Modules Affect Competitive Play?

The modules system, which allows customization of mech attributes, has been a focal point of player feedback. Amazing Seasun is contemplating restricting these modules to Mashmak, the game’s extraction mode, to maintain balance in competitive 3v3 and 6v6 matches. This change aims to ensure that no single build provides an unfair advantage, fostering a more level playing field for all competitors.

What Changes Are Planned for Post-Release Content?

Post-release, Amazing Seasun intends to introduce alternate versions of existing mechs, available for purchase in the in-game store. While some content may still require players to grind or make purchases, this approach allows for continued revenue streams and keeps the game evolving. Balancing free and paid content will be crucial to maintaining player engagement and satisfaction.

These potential modifications reflect a responsive development strategy, aiming to align the game more closely with player expectations. By addressing key areas such as asset availability and customization balance, Amazing Seasun is positioning Mecha Break to better meet the demands of its diverse player base. Ensuring a smooth transition from beta to official release will be vital in establishing a strong and loyal community.
