Obsidian Entertainment’s highly anticipated game, Avowed, has experienced a delay, pushing its release to early 2025. Fans eagerly awaiting its arrival will find solace in a newly released trailer, showcasing the game’s advanced graphics capabilities. This delay comes despite a packed release schedule for Microsoft in 2024, indicating the company’s prioritization on delivering a polished final product. Previous speculations hinted at a 2024 release, but the recent announcement shifts expectations.

Prior information about Avowed had suggested an earlier release date, creating significant anticipation and excitement within the gaming community. Comparatively, other titles expected from Microsoft in 2024 have maintained their schedules, making Avowed‘s delay a notable exception. The new trailer, which highlights the game’s enhanced visuals, aims to maintain interest and keep fans engaged during the extended wait.

Enhanced Graphics on Display

The new trailer for Avowed emphasizes the game’s use of ray tracing technology on Nvidia RTX GPUs, providing a glimpse into the advanced visual fidelity players can expect on PC. Utilizing Unreal Engine 5’s Lumen technology, the trailer showcases more natural illumination and detailed ray traced reflections, setting a high bar for visual performance in upcoming games.

Support for Latest Nvidia Technologies

Nvidia has confirmed that Avowed will launch with support for Nvidia DLSS 3 and Reflex technologies. DLSS 3 is expected to enhance performance, particularly when ray tracing is enabled, while Reflex will reduce latency for smoother gameplay on compatible hardware. These features are aimed at providing an optimized gaming experience for PC players.

Set to launch on February 18th, 2025, Avowed will be available on both PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game is also set to appear at the Xbox @ Gamescom 2024 livestream on August 23rd, alongside other anticipated titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, 33 Immortals, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. This event is expected to further showcase the game’s features and offer new gameplay insights.

The delay of Avowed aligns with Microsoft’s strategy to ensure high-quality releases. This approach is consistent with previous delays in the gaming industry where developers prioritize product quality over rigid deadlines. For those tracking the game’s development, the additional time may result in a more refined and immersive experience. The new trailer and upcoming events like Gamescom aim to keep the community engaged and informed about the game’s progress.
