Google’s latest Pixel 8 series is set to become more vibrant with the introduction of a new color variant. The tech giant has hinted at the addition of a “minty fresh” hue to its Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro lineup. Potential buyers who have held off on purchasing the new device may find this fresh color option enticing.
Countdown to Color Reveal
An official countdown is underway on the Google Store, as reported by Android Authority, which showcases the upcoming color through an animation. The depicted Pixel 8 Pro transitions from blue to a light green shade, sparking curiosity among consumers. While the teaser features the Pixel 8 Pro, it remains unclear if one or both models will receive the minty update.
Global Availability Uncertain
The reveal is scheduled for Thursday, January 25, at various times across the globe. Despite the international timing, it is not yet confirmed whether the new color will be launched worldwide or in select markets.
Currently, the Pixel 8 is available in three colors: Hazel, Obsidian, and Rose, while the Pixel 8 Pro offers Bay, Obsidian, and Porcelain shades. Each model has a unique color palette, with Obsidian being the only overlap. The upcoming color is not expected to bring any other changes to the devices, although a new official case may accompany the launch.
The introduction of a new colorway is a strategic move to rekindle consumer interest in a product. This practice is not new to the industry, with Apple and Samsung having previously released new colors for their iPhone 14 and Galaxy S22 models, respectively, well after the initial launch.
