An upgraded version of Tesla‘s Model 3 Performance vehicle may soon arrive, as indicated by the recent spotting of a prototype with a distinctive front splitter. The sighting involved a right-hand-drive model, hinting at Tesla’s plans to introduce a more specialized option for the electric sedan lineup.
Missing Performance Trim Raises Questions
Currently, Tesla offers its updated Model 3 in only two versions: the basic rear-wheel-drive and the long-range dual-motor all-wheel drive. The absence of the Model 3 Performance trim on the order page, despite its popularity for its dynamic driving experience, has sparked curiosity among fans and potential buyers.
Signs of a New Performance Variant
Enthusiasts and observers have noticed test vehicles that suggest Tesla is refining the next iteration of the Model 3 Performance. These prototypes have been seen with their front and rear sections concealed, leading to speculation that these areas contain new design features not yet revealed to the public.
The Tesla enthusiast group The Kilowatts shared images of a black prototype, with red brake calipers and a covered front and rear, reinforcing the notion of an upcoming performance model. This particular prototype, sporting a front splitter, showcased a unique appearance compared to the standard upgraded models.
Though Tesla has yet to confirm the existence of an enhanced Model 3 Performance, various reports and leaked details, such as special sport seats and a possible Ludicrous badge, suggest a more exciting version is in the works. Daniel Ho, Tesla Australia’s chief engineer, hinted at a more ambitious approach for this top-tier model.
The Tesla engineer acknowledged that the company had previously held back on fully realizing the Model 3 Performance’s capabilities, mainly due to the intense production challenges at the time. With the upcoming upgrade, Tesla may finally unlock the full potential of the performance variant.
