Firewalk Studios has released a new animated video for their game Concord, broadening the lore beyond its in-game experience. The video, titled “Freegunner Adventures,” features characters Jabali, Teo, and It-Z, embarking on a mission. This move enhances the game’s narrative engagement, providing fans additional content to explore outside the competitive multiplayer context.
Animated Expansion
The animated feature shows the trio navigating the Robot Ruins in search of a crucial memory module. An ambush disrupts their quest; despite overcoming the rival crew, Teo sustains an injury while shielding It-Z. Jabali then utilizes his healing abilities, suggesting their mission continues. This story-driven content adds depth to the game’s universe, even though such narratives are not part of the actual gameplay.
Gameplay Focus
Concord primarily centers on competitive multiplayer action, offering 16 Freegunners, each with multiple variants. Players engage in battles across 12 maps and six diverse modes. Firewalk Studios has also announced that there will be hundreds of customization items to unlock, and importantly, there will be no battle pass at launch.
The game will be available on PS5 and PC from August 23rd. This launch follows a well-received beta phase, which provided players a glimpse into the game’s mechanics and features.
Earlier reports emphasized the game’s focus on competitive multiplayer, without mentioning any lore expansion through other media. The latest development with the animated video marks a shift towards a more narrative-rich experience, catering to players who value story elements. Additionally, the absence of a battle pass at launch aligns with Firewalk Studios’ commitment to providing a fair and engaging playing field.
Compared to previous announcements, the emphasis on character variants and map diversity remains consistent. However, the introduction of supplementary content like “Freegunner Adventures” illustrates a broader strategy to keep the community engaged outside of traditional gameplay parameters.
Offering animated videos to enrich the game’s lore introduces a new layer of engagement for Concord players. This approach allows fans to connect more deeply with the characters and storylines, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Such strategies can be beneficial for maintaining a vibrant and active player base, especially when competitive elements are paired with narrative depth.
