January 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting month for NVIDIA, as the company is poised to introduce its highly anticipated GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series. According to a leaked embargo document, NVIDIA plans to unveil three new additions to its SUPER family: the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, 4070 Ti SUPER, and 4070 SUPER, at the CES 2024 keynote on January 8th. This lineup promises to elevate gaming experiences with significant improvements in both design and performance.
Innovative Design and Enhanced Performance
The GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is expected to headline the launch, featuring the AD103-400 GPU with a fully enabled 10,240 cores and a 16 GB GDDR6X memory on a 256-bit bus interface.
Despite similar thermal design power (TGP) to its non-SUPER variant, the RTX 4080 SUPER aims for a 3-5% performance increase, potentially reaching close to 10% in custom models. This performance uplift positions the 4080 SUPER as a strong contender against AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, with its choice of AD103-275 / AD102-175 GPU SKUs, is expected to offer a 15% performance boost over its predecessor. It will feature 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, providing a substantial upgrade from the non-SUPER variant. Lastly, the RTX 4070 SUPER is rumored to maintain its 12 GB GDDR6X memory but with a slight TGP increase, potentially offering around 14% faster performance than the non-SUPER RTX 4070.
A Potential Misstep at Retail
Interestingly, a European retailer, ProShop, mistakenly listed all NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs as the RTX 4090 SUPER. While this error has stirred some confusion, it’s clear that the 4090 SUPER is not part of the upcoming SUPER series launch. NVIDIA’s strategy appears focused on strengthening its existing lineup with the SUPER variants rather than introducing a new top-tier 4090 SUPER model.
Looking Forward
As NVIDIA gears up for this significant release, expectations are high for the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series. These GPUs are set to bring notable improvements in gaming performance, potentially changing the landscape of high-end gaming hardware. With the official unveil just around the corner, NVIDIA enthusiasts and gamers alike are eagerly awaiting more details and the chance to experience these new graphics powerhouses firsthand.
