In the United States, ULA will attempt the first operational Vulcan Centaur launch as part of the USSF-106 Space Force mission, marking an effort to increase launch frequency for national security payloads.

The Dream Chaser spaceplane, created by Sierra Space, is set for its maiden launch atop ULA’s Vulcan Centaur, representing ongoing NASA backing for reusable commercial spacecraft to support ISS logistics. Northrop Grumman plans to deploy a weather satellite using a Minotaur IV rocket under contract with the U.S. Space Force, aiming to test new commercial weather imaging technologies in orbit. A Northrop Grumman spokesperson noted,

“This mission aims to enhance the U.S. Space Force’s ability to utilize commercial weather solutions for critical military applications.”

Broader patterns indicate that both private company leadership and international partnership initiatives are guiding new directions in space operations. ULA added,

“Launching Dream Chaser with our Vulcan Centaur demonstrates how private and public collaborations can support ISS and beyond.”
