Expanding GNSS Module Range

Quectel’s new LG290P module extends its range of high-accuracy, RTK-capable GNSS modules. Alongside the dual-band industrial-grade LC29H and the automotive-grade LG69T, the quad-band LG290P adds greater versatility for users. This module supports all constellations, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BDS, NavIC, QZSS, and advanced satellite-based signals. The LG290P is a cost-effective industrial-grade module that accommodates L1, L2, L5, and E6 frequency bands, future-proofing various applications.

Advanced Performance and Security Features

Incorporating a sophisticated multi-frequency RTK algorithm, the LG290P provides rapid and reliable high-precision positioning, even under dense tree cover or urban environments. It includes professional-grade interference signal detection and Narrowband Interference Canceller (NIC) to enhance signal reception. The module supports integrity monitoring and authentication information verification, aiding automatic navigation systems in critical applications like autonomous vehicles and lawnmowers. Additionally, the LG290P features on-chip ECC check and Secure Boot for firmware protection.

A notable past innovation from Quectel includes the dual-band LC29H, introduced for industrial applications, and the automotive-grade LG69T, both of which established Quectel’s reputation for reliable GNSS solutions. The LG290P, with its quad-band capability and advanced features, builds on these successes by offering improved RTK fix rate and reduced time to achieve RTK fix. This advancement reflects ongoing technological progress in GNSS modules, emphasizing Quectel’s commitment to high performance and reliability.

Historically, GNSS modules have gradually evolved in terms of accuracy and reliability. Earlier models primarily supported single or dual bands, with fewer capabilities for dealing with interference and challenging environments. The LG290P’s introduction marks a significant enhancement in GNSS technology, offering a more comprehensive solution for various applications compared to previous models.

The LG290P quad-band GNSS module is now available for order through Quectel’s website and distributors. Its compact size of 12.2 mm × 16.0 mm × 2.6 mm allows for greater design flexibility, reducing integration challenges for customers. This module’s superior coverage and rapid RTK fix rate make it particularly suited for applications demanding high precision, such as autonomous lawnmowers and delivery robots.

Enhanced security features, such as on-chip ECC check and Secure Boot, ensure firmware protection and robust performance. Additionally, customers can streamline their design process by sourcing the appropriate antenna for this module, ensuring flexibility and compatibility for diverse project requirements.

Quectel’s new LG290P module stands out with its advanced features, offering rapid and reliable positioning, superior security, and flexible design options. This innovation represents a meaningful step forward in GNSS technology, providing users with a reliable and high-precision solution for their applications.
