Samsung, in collaboration with LG U+, has introduced the Galaxy Family Phone Program, a revolutionary initiative aimed at breathing new life into previously owned smartphones. This program ensures that old devices can be given to children with a fresh battery, making them feel like new.
Program Mechanics and Eligibility
This innovative program comes into play when a customer purchases a new Galaxy premium phone and activates it through LG U+. In turn, the customer is presented with a battery replacement voucher. This voucher can be redeemed when the customer registers an older Galaxy device in their child’s name while also setting up a Samsung Child Account for them.
Verification of the family and child’s name is essential to utilize the voucher, which allows for a complimentary battery replacement of the older device. This offer is specific to minors under 14 years of age, with an added incentive for individuals who transfer their service to LG U+ from other providers.
Eligible Models and Service Details
The range of smartphones eligible for this renewal includes the Galaxy S21, S22, and S23 series, in addition to the Galaxy Flip/Fold 3 and 4 models. Devices not in use just prior to the activation of the new phone are also considered for the program, with the caveat that each new phone purchased corresponds to one old phone passed on.
Each device is entitled to a single battery replacement coupon, determined by its unique IMEI number. The coupon must be used within a six-month window at one of 173 Samsung service centers nationwide. Following the complimentary battery replacement, customers are also gifted a screen protection film.
