Samsung has introduced an update for its Camera Assistant application, now at version 2.1.00.1, aimed at refining the photographic capabilities across a range of its Galaxy smartphones. The upgrade provides a suite of new attributes and extends compatibility to include additional Galaxy series models.
Expanded Device Support and New Features
The updated Camera Assistant app extends its reach to work seamlessly with the Galaxy S24 series and several other models, including the Galaxy A73, A72, A53, A54, A52 variants, M54, F54, and Quantum 2. Access to these features requires the devices to operate on the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 framework or newer.
Enhancements to Photography and Videography
With an aim to elevate the user experience in capturing moments, the update introduces exclusive features for the S24 series such as zoom shortcuts. These shortcuts empower users to swiftly alternate between 10x and 100x zoom levels with mere taps on the zoom slider’s icons.
The app now supports depth-of-field (DOF) adapter correction, allowing the attachment of external DOF adapters and automatically rectifying images inverted by such adapters, specifically in the Pro and Pro Video modes.
Another novel addition is the anamorphic lens correction which rectifies distortion by automatically adjusting the de-squeeze of previews and recordings. This feature is particularly active in the Pro Video mode for 16:9 aspect ratio footage, excluding 8K and 120 fps settings.
Audio monitoring is the last feature introduced, which facilitates real-time audio tracking through external devices such as Bluetooth and USB earphones, as well as HDMI output, within the video modes.
