Samsung has unveiled its roadmap for rolling out the February 2024 security patch and One UI 6.1, which will be based on Android 14, for its Galaxy S series smartphones. The company’s community moderator has disseminated this information, indicating the sequential update process for various models.
Security Patch Rollout Guidance
Customers are encouraged to ensure that their applications are updated to the latest versions that support their operating system. This step may resolve certain issues that users could encounter following the system update.
The Galaxy S23 series is poised to be the first in line to receive the One UI 6.0-based February 2024 security patch. This update promises to bring the devices up to the latest security level. Subsequently, other models in the Galaxy S range, including the S21, S21 Plus, S21 Ultra, S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra, are expected to receive the security patch during the latter half of February 2024.
Anticipating One UI 6.1
Looking further ahead, the One UI 6.1 update, which will be built atop Android 14, is slated for release in the first half of 2024. This update will encompass the Galaxy S21 series, the S22 lineup, and the S23 models, including the S23 FE. The plan includes integrating improvements from One UI 6.0, although the details remain under wraps as Samsung continues its development work. It is important to note that the update schedule pertains to devices released in Korea, with variations possible for other regions.
A tweet by a Galaxy S Manager highlighted the expected timeline, suggesting that the One UI 6.1 update will follow the distribution of the February patch for the One UI 6.0. Users are thus advised to anticipate the updates sequentially.
