Soracom, a global IoT connectivity provider, recently introduced two innovative services, Soracom Flux and Soracom Query Intelligence, designed to streamline the deployment of sophisticated IoT projects. These new offerings incorporate Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities to enhance real-time data processing and natural-language network analysis. This development reflects the growing trend of integrating AI into IoT infrastructures to simplify complex tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Enhanced IoT Applications with Soracom Flux
Soracom Flux, a low-code application builder, enables users, including those without technical expertise, to create AI-integrated IoT applications swiftly. This tool allows the definition of data flows between various sensors, cameras, actuators, GenAI engines, and cloud services, thereby automating operations across multiple industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and security. For instance, Soracom Flux can generate applications that alert users if workers on a construction site are not wearing protective gear, based on camera data and user-defined parameters.
Natural-Language Network Analysis with Soracom Query Intelligence
Soracom Query Intelligence leverages GenAI to facilitate the management of extensive IoT deployments through natural-language data queries and immediate analytic feedback. Building on the Soracom Query managed data warehouse, this service lets users perform complex data analysis without needing programming expertise. It can, for example, help users identify unstable devices or determine areas requiring carrier switching for uninterrupted connectivity.
Kenta Yasukawa, Soracom’s CTO and co-founder, highlighted the vision behind these advancements:
“We’ve always envisioned an Internet of Things where connected devices can interact with each other to make decisions in real time.”
“The emergence of public GenAI services holds the potential to fulfill that vision. Soracom Flux and Soracom Query Intelligence drive AI much deeper within the IoT stack. Project teams can now accomplish in minutes what once took months and required expert skills, and even nontechnical managers can now enjoy complete control of even the largest and most globally distributed IoT networks.”
Soracom Flux launched in Public Beta, with Pro and Enterprise plans expected later this year. Soracom Query Intelligence is available as a Technology Preview to selected customers, who are encouraged to apply via Soracom’s contact channels.
Soracom’s current announcement builds on previous efforts to integrate AI capabilities within IoT networks. Earlier initiatives primarily focused on enhancing connectivity and data management solutions, but the inclusion of GenAI represents a significant leap forward. Previously, Soracom offered managed data warehousing and basic analytic tools, which required more technical expertise and time to implement compared to the current offerings.
The introduction of Soracom Flux and Soracom Query Intelligence reflects a broader industry trend towards democratizing AI technology and making it more accessible to non-technical users. This shift aims to empower businesses to leverage advanced analytics and automation without the need for extensive technical resources, thus accelerating the deployment and scaling of IoT projects.
Users and managers of large IoT networks now have tools that simplify and expedite the creation and management of applications, reducing reliance on specialized skills. These services are poised to enhance operational efficiency across various sectors, enabling quicker responses to changing conditions and more informed decision-making through real-time data analysis.
