Tesla has once more extended the wait for its Model 3 Long Range variant. This delay comes shortly after the announcement that the refreshed vehicle would be available to North American consumers. The postponement indicates a shift in the estimated delivery window from the previously set schedule.
Revised Delivery Estimates
The latest update from Tesla’s online configuration tool reveals that the Long Range model, which was initially set for February to March deliveries, is now expected to reach customers between March and April. This adjustment reflects a month’s delay from the recent timeline update. Despite this, the more affordable rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model maintains its February to March delivery forecast, with the Long Range and RWD priced at $45,990 and $38,990 respectively.
Further Developments and Availability
This setback occurs amidst Tesla’s confirmation of an upcoming Performance Model 3 variant, following sightings of a potential prototype. However, its release date remains uncertain. Tesla had commenced the Model 3’s North American launch on January 9, following its introduction in various markets toward the end of 2023. Production is ongoing at the Fremont factory in California, although recent footage shows limited visible activity outside the plant.
Demonstration drives for the Model 3 began over a week ago in select West Coast locations in the U.S. and have since expanded nationwide. An increase in the number of upgraded Model 3 vehicles was observed in recent drone footage of the Fremont factory, although the numbers are still low.
Initial customer reports earlier this week indicated the start of the upgraded Model 3 deliveries in North America, with specific orders expected to arrive between January 25 and February 8. The vehicle has also been featured at the Washington D.C. Auto Show alongside the Cybertruck.
