Production Milestones and Employee Pride

A collection of commemorative shirts seen in the video, emblazoned with numbers like “1k,” “2k,” and “3k,” suggests various production milestones achieved by the plant. Notably, a shirt with “6K” signal that the team has met the ambitious target of manufacturing 6,000 vehicles in a week. Tesla Quality Engineer Lars Lengacker shared this celebratory moment on social media, showcasing his Model Y adorned with these milestone markers.

Executive Acknowledgment and Future Ambitions

Bob Foulkes, Tesla’s Director of Quality, confirmed the achievement in a LinkedIn post, expressing his pride in the Giga Berlin team’s success. He referred to the milestone shirts as “trophies” and voiced his excitement for the upcoming year, hinting at further advances for the facility. Foulkes praised his quality team’s commitment and attributed the Model Y’s global sales success to their hard work.

Foulkes’ post reflects the collective pride within the Giga Berlin workforce and acknowledges the challenges they overcame. He lauds the team’s determination to innovate and attributes the Model Y’s historical milestone as the first electric vehicle to outsell conventional cars to their efforts.

Despite the current production halt at Giga Berlin due to supply chain disruptions caused by conflicts in the Red Sea, Foulkes remains optimistic and looks forward to overcoming challenges in 2024. This pause, necessitated by longer transportation times, is a temporary setback in the plant’s otherwise stellar trajectory.

The unwavering enthusiasm and dedication of Tesla’s Giga Berlin team underscore their contribution to the company’s rapid growth and the global shift towards electric vehicles. Foulkes’ post not only celebrates their current success but also sets a hopeful tone for the future as the plant gears up to continue its mission-driven journey.
