Ubisoft’s upcoming video game ‘Skull and Bones’ is on the brink of release, marked by a fresh trailer revealing details about end-game content and plans for the first year post-launch. The game challenges players to rise against formidable Pirate Kingpins and delve deep into a place called The Helm to forge illicit goods.
Conquering the High Seas: Manufacturing and Trade
The journey to power begins with the seizure of manufacturing sites scattered across areas like Sainte-Anne’s Pirate Den. Players will encounter various resource-generating sites such as lumberyards and foundries. Dominating these zones allows players to gain control over trade routes, leading to the accumulation of wealth. With newfound riches, upgrades become available to enhance production efficiency and the quality of smuggled items.
Legendary Heists and Hostile Takeovers
However, acquiring these manufactories is no simple task, as they are fiercely defended. Players will engage in two primary operations: Legendary Heists and Hostile Takeovers. Heists will test one’s ability to plunder treasure-laden convoys, endure onslaughts from warships, and rendezvous with contacts for rewards. Takeovers, on the other hand, are chaotic battles where multiple parties clash over control of a manufactory.
As the game progresses past its initial launch, players can expect the introduction of seasonal features. These include the assignment of ships to trade routes and the ability to influence in-game authorities through bribery. Additionally, competitive PvP modes will emerge, such as Helm Wagers, which involves significant risk for substantial in-game currency gains, and Cutthroat Cargo, a race to locate and transport treasure while fending off rival pirates.
The game will also feature competitive elements like leaderboards and Kingpin ranks that affect the types of rewards players receive. With each season, the leaderboards will be reset, offering new challenges and exclusive items to unlock.
‘Skull and Bones’ is scheduled to set sail on February 16th, welcoming players on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC to join its high-seas adventures. A comprehensive gameplay deep dive is available for those interested in learning more about what awaits in the treacherous waters.
