Vention has unveiled its inaugural turnkey robotic sander, targeting the woodworking sector. This innovation aims to streamline sanding processes, particularly for cabinet manufacturers, by integrating advanced automation. The new system is designed to enhance efficiency and precision in sanding tasks, addressing the increasing demand for robotic solutions in craftsmanship.
While Vention has previously offered customizable automation solutions, this turnkey option signifies a strategic expansion into ready-to-deploy systems. Earlier offerings required more extensive setup and customization, catering primarily to larger enterprises. The introduction of the Rapid Sanding Solution (RSS) marks a shift towards more accessible automation for small to mid-sized businesses.
How Does the Rapid Sanding Solution Enhance Efficiency?
The Rapid Sanding Solution (RSS) is equipped with a FANUC CRX-30iA collaborative robot arm, which includes a laser system for precise panel measurements. This setup allows for consistent sanding quality and reduces manual labor, significantly increasing operational efficiency. According to Etienne Lacroix, founder and CEO of Vention, “We are delighted to make automation more accessible to small and mid-sized businesses through an expansion of our Rapid Series line of turnkey cobot solutions.”
What Role Does 3M Play in This Innovation?
3M collaborated with Vention in developing the RSS, leveraging their expertise in abrasive solutions. The partnership ensures that the sanding system is optimized for use with 3M Abrasive Solutions, enhancing the overall performance and reliability of the robot sander. Carl Doeksen, 3M’s robotics & automation director, stated, “Vention and 3M are aligned in our efforts to help more manufacturers automate their abrasive processing, delivering improved safety, productivity, quality, and consistency.”
How Have Customers Responded to the New Sander?
Early adopters of the RSS have reported significant improvements in their sanding operations. For instance, Fabridor, a Quebec-based cabinet maker, reported a 31% increase in sanding efficiency after integrating Vention’s solution. Hubert Dubois, GM of Fabridor, commented, “The sanding line has been in operation for six weeks now, and we have only received positive feedback from our customers on the quality of the sanding.”
The introduction of Vention’s turnkey sanding robot reflects a broader trend towards automation in manufacturing. By offering a ready-to-use solution, Vention is enabling smaller businesses to adopt advanced technologies without extensive upfront investments. This accessibility is likely to accelerate the adoption of robotic sanding, driving further innovation and competition in the market.
