Verizon, in a recent move, has decided to increase the monthly fees for customers subscribed to older unlimited data plans. The hike will affect the 5G Get More, 5G Play More, 5G Do More, and 5G Start plans, each seeing an increase of $4 per line. This change is slated to take effect from March 1, 2024.
Repeat Strategy: Verizon’s Price Hike History
This strategy of increasing prices isn’t new for Verizon. Previously, in August, they implemented a $3 monthly increase on various unlimited plans including Go Unlimited and Above Unlimited. The consistent pattern suggests a deliberate push towards newer plans.
Strategic Push Towards New Plans
Verizon’s newer myPlan unlimited data options—Unlimited Ultimate, Unlimited Plus, and Unlimited Welcome—were unveiled last May. They are designed to replace older plans and come with the added benefit of customizable entertainment perks for an additional $10 per month.
Verizon encourages customers to transition to these new plans, which promise to cater to individual preferences and offer savings on various services like Disney Plus, Apple One, and Walmart memberships. This shift is presented as an opportunity for subscribers to better match their lifestyle and interests.
Despite the forthcoming increases, Verizon aims to portray the transition as beneficial, highlighting the versatility and value provided by the new plans in contrast to the older, more expensive ones.
